Are we really programmed machines that work through circuits that we can't change and have a predetermined life by the brain we're born with, or are we capable of reprogram and reprogram our minds and control our lives?

Neuroscientist Hannah Cricklow shows what the recent study of the brain of our free will says, what has been inherited in relation to what has been acquired.

An adult's brain is not unchanged

At the beginning of the neuroscension, the principle was generally accepted that all neurons in the brain were created before birth and that it was impossible to repair a damaged brain.

For years neuroscientists have assumed that the structure of the adult brain is unchanged. In other words, we were only aware of what we had.

But in the 1960s, that attitude began to change, Kosovo Press broadcasts.

New experimental research has shown the opposite: there was evidence that the brain could actually be plastic, d.m. th. It could adapt, grow, and even regenerate.

Brain healing

The following experiments confirmed that the brain preserves the possibility of large - scale changes in structure and function, even at sixty - seventy - eighty years.

One of the most important changes is the neurogenetic growth of new neurons from nerve stem cells to an adult.

This offers an extraordinary potential for our ability to heal”, says Sharon Begley, an American journalist and author of the book Brian Plasticı.

Treatment methods such as the Cognitive Treatment Therapy (CBT), a form of speech therapy, can help you deal with your problems by changing your thinking and behavior.

Promoting neuroplasticity - the brain's ability to change constantly - can help people.

When we're used to thinking differently about our life experiences, during this type of psychological intervention, it can actually affect both the structure and the function of the brain”, Sharon says.

But beware of what Sharon calls a “neuro-hype” The belief that we can change everything in our brain can depend on our heads.

What happens when someone doesn't get to “think” through depression or trauma? “Shall we charge those who do not think the right thoughts?”, Sharon says.

The idea that everything that went wrong in the brain can be fixed is obviously a step too far,” says Sharon.

What does plasticity mean for gender roles?

Biological determinism can severely classify and limit individuals.

For example, we can attribute many aspects of gender stereotypes to some people really believe that your gender chromosomes affect the way you behave.

“Grat are irrational and men are non-emotional? It won't be,” says Gina Ripon, a neuroscientian scientist and author of the book Genter Brain.

Gina questioned the idea that the brain of men and women changes and that these changes are unchanged. She found that there was nothing in human biology that would justify the idea that there were gender differences in the brain.

Instead, Gina says that people are inclined to develop a male or female brain because of experiences they have accumulated during their lifetime that have told them that their abilities and behavior are determined by gender.

“Trus is a much more active actor in the world than we were aware of” she says, adding that this is why the world and what exists in the world has a far greater impact than we could ever imagine. )

Brain adaptation functions in both ways, and, according to Gina, that same idea of plasticity, which we now know runs from birth to advanced years, can help us overcome prevailing and outdated prejudices about gender and the limitations he imposes.

How much can the brain really be plastic?

Our brains change every day. Each time you learn something new or think of a new thought, create and consolidate new nerve connections in your brain by building a new physical structure in it.

But how long can we expect to change?

The mass of significant changes occur on a micro scale; these are small changes in the level of synaptic connections between individual neurons,” says Kevin Mitchell, a neurogenetic in Dublin's Trinity College in Ireland.

In his book The Line, Kevin says that it can't be a bad idea to constantly remember that “the brain's durability is not unlimited” and to be more skeptical of the idea that “in a macro plan, we can experience transformations that can change our personality”.

“We need to weigh the evidence more carefully and be skeptical about the idea that we can change everything we want, be free to tear down all the handcuffs of our genetic destiny and turn into the kind of person we want to be”, he says.

We use our brains all the time. We use the hearing and visual parts of our brain all the time, yet they don't grow constantly. If every part of the brain we use was getting bigger, our skulls would explode at one point,” he adds.

Also, research like Kevin's shows that the degree to which our brain is plastic is actually the greatest irony that it is determined by our genes.

It could be that only a few of us are born with the right genes that offer the possibility of increasing our hippocampus”, he claims.
