A study published in the magazine European Heart revealed that people who sleep more than 8 hours a day are more likely to die from heart disease or from the blocking of blood vessels in the brain than those sleeping on average from 6 to 8 hours.
The survey was conducted at 116,000 respondents, aged 35 to 70, in 21 countries, broadcast Kosova Preris.
For eight years, 4,365 people died with serious heart problems.
“Gjum is essential to human health, and on average, each person spends a third of their days sleeping,” said scientists.
Compared with those who averaged between 6 and 8 hours of sleep, those who slept for 8 and 9 hours have five percent more chances of developing cardiovascular diseases.
On average, 9 or 10 hours of sleep have a 17 - percent greater chance of developing a heart disease. For those who sleep for more than 10 hours, this rate increases dramatically. They have a 41 percent chance of contracting cardiovascular diseases.
You should not sleep for less than 6 hours, since even then you are in danger of cardiovascular disease (nine percent).
The conclusion of the study is that people on average should sleep between 6 and 8 hours.
