Rama warns builders: Take the repairs or go to prison

The prime minister, Edi Rama, reiterated once again the appeal for palace builders whose apartments have suffered light, non-structural damage to come forward to make the declaration and take over all the repairs and damages inflicted on people. The government chief insisted that this procedure be carried out as soon as possible, as each passing day draws them closer to prison.

Rama made the warning at the extraordinary government meeting this morning, December 2, 2019.

Rama: We are working and believe that we will quickly conclude and the new legal and criminal framework for construction abuses. The special anti-corruption unit has begun preparing the entire action map to identify responsibility in troubled buildings.

I want to make an appeal to all those who have built collective buildings and now enter damaged but not dangerous buildings to present themselves urgently to the relevant office of the managing officer of the emergency staff in Durres and make a statement of readiness to pay one-on-one buildings, all repairs from surface to the material damage done to people.

I make this appeal because it will be too late for them. Anyone who avoids this obligation will be directly charged in front of justice bodies, we will bring him on charges, and we will seek imprisonment for irresponsible. It's damage that doesn't threaten the sustainability of the building, but that puts its habitability out of the way and has to do with after-after abuses of construction permits.

It is certain that new constructions made since the mid-1990s and then 99% of them have remained best. The rest, very small, in 99% of cases, is abuse by individuals rather than companies that have built water and added flour and, in a small percentage of companies that have abused themselves with permission.

I've asked the comprehensive emergency executives and a report that will be prepared with local government for increased floors on permits, are a series of floors added to the permit to be registered and for which we should undertake a special initiative later.
