All citizens whose dwellings are damaged by the earthquake and who are currently accommodated in hotels will have to prepare for Christmas and the new year to be spent in these hotels.
Albania's Prime Minister Edi Rama suggested the news at the extraordinary meeting of the government held this morning.
It's not easy that there are too many. Financially, we will afford it, not at any cost rent, that we will not allow abuses, but at any cost in the sense of total cost. The goal is that after having spent Christmas and New Year's in hotels as people I feel sorry for others who may have thought or made some promotion to make New Year's Eve or Christmas at the Durres Beach, it is impossible”, Albania's prime minister said.
Starting in January, Rama added, they will be moved to rented apartments which will be covered by the state, until the completion of the reconstruction phase, which, according to the government chief, will undoubtedly take time.
“should start identifying all apartments to rent from the state. We're not taking them to camps, we're not taking them to tents. But we're taking them to apartments where they're staying for rent until the reconstruction is done. Reconstruction will last. All those who do not return home because they are damaged until the house is repaired must stay as people in” apartments, Rama said.
Meanwhile for residents in rural areas whose dwellings have also become uninhabitable, Rama said all measures are being taken for them to be equipped with maximum quality tents and tents.
“Starting in early January to begin moving them into apartments to have the vital minimum dignified, not to apartments to go to land, but to the minimum necessary equipment, with the possibility of feeding and a certain quota, as well as food aid”, Rama said.
