This region has been hit several times by earthquakes in recent months. Despite the power of the quake, authorities have not issued alarms for tsunamis.
The focus of this powerful earthquake was 13 miles [ 61 km] southwest of the city of Davao, on the island of Mindanao, while its depth was 28 miles [28 km] below the surface of the earth.
The Cuname Warning Centre in the Pacific said that, based on current data, there is no danger to tsunami.
Authorities so far have not reported casualties or material damage, although such earthquakes could damage buildings.
This region was hit by three earthquakes in October, and another in November, with cases remaining dead at least five people.
The Philippines extends to the so-called hot <x0unase” of the Pacific, which is the region with the highest seismic activity on the planet, so earthquakes often hit it, writes “Reuters”.
