Paid for teachers of the 1990s

Educators who have worked during the 1990-1999 period, under the process known as the parallel education system in Kosovo, will receive legal compensation during Tuesday.

Lulzim Rafuna, adviser to incumbent Finance Minister, has confirmed for Online Economy that the execution of payments for teachers of the 1990s will take place along with other pensions.

He has clarified that they will be paid retroactively by April.

The execution of payment for payment of teachers of the 1990s will take place today, along with other pensions. According to him, these payments are not only related to the Law of Salaries, which has been suspended by the Constitutional Court because they are special regulations.

Rafuna has clarified that the amount of budgeted means is sufficient, including the retroactive part since April.

In an interview for Online Economics, the head of the Pension Department at the Ministry of Labour and Social Management (MMPS), Bahri Xhaferi, had confirmed that they are for all preparations and everything is ready for compensation.

The value for the teacher's contribution during the 1990s starts from 19 to 70 euros, depending on how long they worked. Most educators were given the basis of the Law on the Status of Education Workers.

The cost of law enforcement for 2019 will be 6.6m euros and for 2020 around 7.4m euros.

Meanwhile, the number of teachers who were engaged in the education process during the 1990s-1999 is estimated to be around 23 thousand.
