Ombudsman: Authorities failed to protect minor in Fushe Kosovo, which was violated and then killed

In this case, the ombudsman has found that the responsible authorities were aware of the danger the child was exposed to, as a child in a street situation, and as a sexually abused child, so they have failed to take measures regarding the positive obligations, respectively, for protecting the victim's life.
The people's <x0 Group, after reviewing the relevant legislation, international instruments, documentation of the case, information and data it has, estimates that in the concrete case there have been violations of fundamental human rights and freedoms, respectively, violations of the state's positive obligations for the protection of the right to life, as well as the rights of children for protection from violence and mistreatment, as relevant authorities have failed to meet constitutional and legal obligations, nor international standards for the protection of the victim's life, applicable in the Republic of Kosovo<>, the statement is said.
Based on the analysis, assessments and findings, the Ombudsman in the published report on the issue addresses the recommendations to the Basic Prosecutor in Pristina, the Kosovo Police and the Ministry of Labour and Social Management.
This recommendation report has been forwarded to the responsible authorities. The same was sent to the media and published on the official website of the Ombudsman's Institute.
