Tests conducted between 0800 and 800 found that people of the night were less connected to conscious brain regions.
They also had weaker attention, slower reactions and increased drowsiness.
Researchers suggested that night owls were disadvantaged by “definitions” of the typical work day.
They asked for more research to understand the implications of the health of those who stay up at night in their daily work.
