Thousands of citizens of areas affected by the November 26th earthquake sheltered in Kosovo following the earthquake have begun returning to Albania through Morina's Border Crossing Point.
They say that their return involves work and the assessment of damage to their homes but also that they have lost little fear. However, most people answer that it is still a frightening situation and that they are returning to see their homes - for many, the hard work of a life.
The shelterers for several days in Kosovo who decided to return Sunday, even though the quakes in Durres have not ceased, but are of a slightly lower magnitude, say that if the situations remain uncertain, they will return to Kosovo. Many are returning to keep their jobs, even though they know that earth's shakings are continuing and there is no accurate prediction of when the situation will calm down.
At Morina's Border Cross Point was Albania's Ambassador to Kosovo, Kemal Minxhozi, who said that after November 26, “in Kosovo three categories of citizens have arrived. Some have been addressed to hosting centers. Part of the relatives, while some of them came here and were sheltered in hotels. There are 17 thousand and 500 citizens.
Part of them have been returned”, he said. Only Friday and Saturday have 7800 citizens of the areas of Durres, Thumana and Tirana returned to Albania. The flow of movements followed Sunday, in both directions, some entered and some left Kosovo. As many citizens of Tirana and Durres who fled southeast are returning to their homes.
The quake, which struck Tuesday morning but also the holiday holiday of November, caused some of the citizens to move outside the capital and Durres. Kosovo has been very solidified with Albania in these days of disasters, offering a portion of the Army, Police to extract troops, engineering experts for collapsed buildings, as well as aid and shelter in centres, hotels and homes.
