EU continues sanctions against Russia

Sanctions were approved for the first time in July 2014 after an annexing Russia's Crime Peninsula and its support for pro Moscow separatists, east of the country. Since then, restrictive measures have lasted every six months. Currently they are in effect until July 31, 2020.
The EU accelerated the ease of sanctions to progress with Minsk's agreements, calling for unconditional ceasefires and for both sides to pull heavy arms east of Ukraine. This was supposed to happen by the end of 2015.
“Since this did not happen, sanctions have remained unchanged”, the EU wrote in a statement. /Attish
