Consequences of earthquake, Austria donates 600 thousand euros for reconstruction

Austria has donated 600 thousand euros to rebuild residences destroyed by the tragic 26 November earthquake. The granting agreement was signed to the Ministry of Defence by National Civil Protection Agency Director Haki Chako and the director of the Austrian Development Agency's local office Simone Ungersböck.
The signed agreement aims to improve living conditions for families affected by the earthquake, rebuilding or repairing damaged homes.
The main beneficiaries of this donation will mainly be the municipalities of Durres and Tirana.
The implementation partner of this agreement is the Ministry of Defence through the National Civil Protection Agency, while the Austrian Development Agency will monitor the entire process of implementing this project and will be constantly informed, directly on the ground about the performance of this project. The project has entered into force on December 01st, 2019, and will continue until March 31st, 2021. Austria has been one of the first European Union countries to provide its support under the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, ensuring after 21 November 2019 earthquakes, generators, blankets, portable beds and sanitation tools.
