Whom Albanians love most: Merkel comes first, Erdogan third

Kosovo's main ally in the international arena is seen in the US, meanwhile within the EU, the main ally state is seen by Germany.

While Angela Merkel remains as Albania's most popular leader, after that Donald Trump and Turkish President Erdogan, the Online Economy reports.

So were most of the answers from survey research conducted by the Pristina Institute for Political Studies (PIPS) and the “Konrad Adenauer” Foundation.

Butrint Berisha from the Pristina Institute for Political Studies (PIPS) said 1,000 and 200 citizens have participated in this research, where 800 were Albanians, 200 Serbs and 200 citizens from other communities.

“This research has been conducted in all municipalities in Kosovo and over 1200 residents, including Serb communities and other adult communities over 18. 800 Albanians, 200 Serbs and 200 members of other communities have participated in this research. Germany leads the list in the question of who should be Kosovo's leading economic partner by about 39 percent, Angela Merkel is reconfirmed as Kosovo's favorite leader by 63 percent, while Donald Trump is next with 15 percent and Erdogan with 10 percent. Within the Serb community's residents, Russian President Vladimir Putin has chosen their favourite leader by 73 percent. Meanwhile, NATO according to Kosovars is the international organisation that has been helping Kosovo most since 1999, followed by the EU by 19 percent”, he said.

Granit Ternava from the “Konrad Adenauer” Foundation said Kosovars continue to trust Germany.

“Germania continues to be Kosovo's main economic partner state, and this believes it must be the approach of the future government. Merkel continues to remain the most popular world politician in Kosovo. Germany continues to be the second international partner after the US”, he said.
