The head of Kosovo's Trade Federation of Farmers, Tahir Tahiri, at a media conference prior to this ministry, within the framework of “Java Anti-Corruption”, said the budget planned for farmers is being used for illegal employment.
“The use and theft of money dedicated to grants, subsidies and capital projects, as well as the use of the budget for electoral and political purposes, the planned budget for farmers, also used for illegal employment, is approved without cover, introducing the ministry into duties for 2020, some 15 million are missing for grants. Misuse of the budget dedicated to farmers for so-called foreign visits, indeed they are usually tourist, business and for ʹsipping”, Tahiri said.
According to him, the World Bank's 12m-euro loan for employing 20 workers and illegal advances in the ministry has also been misused.
Tahiri said Kosovo farmers are being greatly damaged by this.
With the money in 2020, 2019 debts should be paid. This is the huge damage to farmers who have gained the right to grants and are in debt to carry out the project. They have taken loans or taken money, and if those within a month's term after the project's approval are not paid they must sell their livestock to repay the loan or debt they have entered”, Tahiri has added.
Tahiri stressed that the only hope of farmers is the incoming government, to make radical changes with legitimate, transparent and accounting decisions.
