New York with new law on the use of an illegal foreign term

New York City is known for its diversity. People from all over the world go to live there, but that does not mean that racism does not exist. The Commission for Human Rights in New York City has upheld a law on heavy fines against those who use the term "stranger." [...]
The use of the term illegal foreign in humiliating language or the threat to call immigration law enforcement to an individual in New York City can now result in a fine of up to $250,000.
The New York City City Commission for Human Rights published a pamphlet with examples: For example, a school that does not respond if a hijab student is targeted, or an employee who insists on speaking English or leaving the country.
Through a Twitter post Mayor Bill de Blasio commented on the news:
If you want to come to the immigrant city and try to spread hatred, you'll face the post”.
The municipality will allocate additional funds to support immigrant families. Over $16m will be earmarked for the Angrian Family Union Project offering free legal assistance to immigrants. Core Johnson is with the New York City Council.
In our town, where 36 percent of the 8.6 million people who live here and are not born in the United States, we are funding this programme that we hope to be a model for other cities worldwide on how to fight racism, xenophobia and the unfair immigration agency. ”
But not all agree with the new policy. Gerald Cassar, head of the New York State Conservative Party, says the new law is likely to end in court.
It's like a new chapter in a book entitled "1984" by author George Orwell, it's the government's iron hand. It suggests that New York City has the ability to read people's minds and I think it's completely out of order. We don't believe it will survive the trial in court when someone will surely file a lawsuit. ”
New Yorkers are not reluctant to express their opinions on the new law. Consider the way a passerby is expressed.
“have First Amendment, we can express ourselves as we wish. It cannot be removed from the constitution. Where will we live? In a communist country?
“should not be used discriminated against. But if people get fined and they learn how not to be racist, then it'd be good”, says a woman.
The term “illegal foreign” is used by the Department of National Security when it comes to individuals born outside America who are not legitimate residents in the United States. / VoA
