US President Donald Trump has rejected a request by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyah to allow US aid to be transferred to Palestinian security forces and told the aides months ago that Netanyah must pay these aid.
Axios news site reported that the U.S. State Department six months ago found that the 12 million-dollar bailouts for Palestinian security forces have not been interrupted as part of the gradual stop of the Trump administration for all the funds for Palestinians, but have not transferred.
The department revealed the situation after Israeli Ambassador to the US Ron Dermer and other Israeli officials told their American counterparts that they want funds transferred to help Palestinian security forces working with Israelis in the West Coast.
The Department says that in line with Trump's policy to cut such funds, the decision should be clarified by him. According to Axios, Trump was not convinced.
If it's important for Netanyah, he should pay Palestinians $12m in aid”, Trump told the aides while the money was never transferred.
President Trump's administration has gradually cut off all funds for Palestinians over the past two years, and becomes known that Netanyah has played a key role in promoting Trump to act in this way.
The Netanyah administration has asked Trump to cut off aid under the UN Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA).
