News was first announced by the newspaper “New The York Times” and was later confirmed by the president himself in a series of tweets late Thursday.
He wrote he has decided that his permanent home will be Florida's Palm Beach.
Despite the fact that I pay millions of dollars in taxes for the city and at the state level each year have been treated very badly by political leaders of the state of New York”, Mr. Trump wrote.
It is not clear what the amount of taxes Mr. Trump paid in New York is, as he refuses to publish information on the matter.
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo did not seem upset about changing Mr. Trump's residence address.
He called it liberation from a burden and added: “It's not that Mr. Trump paid taxes here anyway. Florida is all yours” he wrote.
In September, Mr. Trump and his wife Melanie presented separate residential documents to the Palm Beach County Court to change their residence.
According to the TV network NBC President Trump has been in Mar-a-Lago, his residence in Pamm Beach, 99 days since he took office. He visited his golf club in New Jersey 90 days and spent only 20 days in the Trump Tower in New York City.
Observers believe the president's movement from New York to Florida is likely partly motivated by a lower tax system that the state implements in the southeast of the country. / VOA
