Sismologist from Serbia Branko Dragicevic has said the earthquake activity in the region and Albania will continue for several months.
According to him, after the main earthquake that had hit the Adriatic of 6.4 steps, Richter has been accompanied by 50 to 60 smaller shocks.
He says such a situation results from seismic energy that has been accumulated for years, which is already being released and will continue to create effects for days and months in the future.
“This has been the strongest earthquake that has hit Albania in the last 30-40 years”, Dragic writes Kosovo-online, broadcast Express.
He has also warned other earthquakes that will occur in the region, but has specified that they cannot be very high magnitus.
“The strongest earthquake that can happen can reach 6 degrees of Richter. Its consequences will depend on what time or hour it will happen, and whether it will be in any residential area”, he added.
He explains that earthquakes cannot be predicted, since there is no season or year when they occur, and thus there is no room for evacuation.
Serbian seismologist says defence preparations must take place before earthquakes occur. One of them says it is the building of objects protected from earthquakes.
Albanian authorities have officially reported 13 deaths and hundreds injured.
