US Special Representative for Western Balkans Matthew Palmer, has said that the initiative to create a “Balkan Schengen”, has the support of the United States of America and, according to him, is a promising idea.
These statements are made during an organised forum in Geneva, Switzerland, saying that there is room for both the Republic of Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina in such an initiative.
The “is an initiative that promises, has our support, and for which we are dedicated, to work in partnership with the heads of the Western Balkan states to advance”, has been linked further to Palmer.
According to Palmer, the initiative of Serbia, Albania and Northern Macedonia for creating a “mini Schengeni” shows that these states are taking responsibility for their destiny by controlling their future, writes B92, broadcast newspaper Express.
Besides the US emissary, it has reiterated the fact that the decision not to open negotiations for Albania and Northern Macedonia has been extremely disappointing, however, the final word has not yet been said.
“Consensus is needed and begins an important process that sends an important signal to the” region, the Palmer has launched.
