Albania's Prime Minister, Edi Rama, has countered LDK leader Isa Mustafa, who on this day said the Balkan Mini-Schengeni is a new Mini-Yugoslavia.
Rama, during a personal media conference from Ohrid, said he has respect for Mustafa, but said the LDK leader's comment against him is the over-x0>, not too elegant”.
I have respect for Isa Mustafen. We've worked together I'm surprised by his statement but as he has the right to his opinion different from mine, I also have the right to have different opinions than his. To talk about this process re-creating Yugoslavia... to tell me this, that I have not worked in Yugoslavia's administration, nor have I any connection with Yugoslavia, except for the bad memory of the mistreatment of Albanians. So it seems too much and not too elegant”, Rama said, reports Koha.net.
He said the Balkan Schengen is an idea that has been consistently rejected by two factors, from the EU and Serbia.
Serbia has rejected it because it has seen it as a threat to Albanians precisely because of the border. Today when Serbia issues in that direction, of course it releases because it looks with interest to benefit from other aspects of the initiative, we oppose? Why? How many times has it been spoken, and how many times have statements such as "we will open the border, open the border, open up the border?" No! Why? Because every time this thing was spoken of, the representatives of the international community in our offices were able to say this is great Albania. The government's put on the spot in Belgrade. I have told Serbia's president that if the free movement of people is not involved, we cannot be included”, Rama said further.
He said that in Kosovo there is a moment when the transition between the outgoing government and the incoming government is taking place, and this has made communication difficult.
“I have heard from Albin Kurti that it is good for Kosovo to always be present at tables. I've welcomed this statement, but I don't have the duty and I'm not going to do the biggest and convince you because I have a lot of respect for all the leaders of Kosovo and it's those who decide and I respect their decisions even when I don't understand”, Rama said.
