Portuguese, who managed Chelsea at two times, was appointed as coach of their rivals in London today ( Wednesday) morning after the dismissal of Maurizio Pochettino.
Ahead of the Cup of League finals between Chelsea and the Spilles in Wembley in March 2015, Mouriinho said he was offered the task of coach by the chairman of the Spurs, Daniel Levy, in September 2007.
This happened shortly after he finished his first time at the helm of Chelsea “with mutual consent” after he agreed with the owner Roman Abramovich and the Stemford Bridge board.
But Mourinho said in 2015 that he couldn't manage Tottenham because his emotional attachment to Chelsea was very strong.
He had also reached an agreement with Chelsea that he would not manage another English club for two years.
Asked whether he approached in 2007 from the Spurs, he said: “Yes. I couldn't go. I can't train in England for two years”
According to Mourinho, Tottenhami tried to offer compensation to the Chelsea to break the clause that prevented her from working in England, but he also said: “I would not take the job, because I love Chelsea's fans”.
Now, despite the management of Chelsea at two times, Mourino seems to have changed his tune and will start working on their rivals north of London.
