The 49-year-old Kosovo woman became pregnant at 49, but that did not prevent her from giving birth to a healthy child. Her elderly mother's case has been reported by her doctor, Dr. Drita Kabashi for Shneta Journal.
Kabashi shows that the patient was present for a visit in the 18th week with unplanned pregnancies. The doctor showed that the patient had recommended the Nifty test to confirm the baby's health.
At this age, the risk of bearing a child with Down syndrome is too high. But after the analysis of the average Nifty-Test, a very healthy child is born”, the doctor indicated.
But what is the Nifty Test, and for what women is it recommended?
Gynecologist Drita Kabashi says women never forget the moment when they realize that a new life is growing in their bodies. But this moment, according to her, carries fear and responsibility to her mother.
“Frika is the most pronounced at the beginning of pregnancy, especially in the first three months. Very important during this period are regular medical examinations to identify possible irregularities in child development. One of the most common tests is measuring nuhal translucence”.
Whatever, since this is not very accurate, then we're increasingly forced to choose, it's understood that along with parents, the non-invasive test. NIFY, which is considered to be the safest and most accurate choice between invasive tests: Cordocentreza, Amniocenteza, Embryoscopi and Fetoscopi”, explains Dr. Kabashi.
Gynecologist shows that NIFY-Test is a noninvasive preferal test that reveals the risk of the existence of Down syndrome and other more common chromosomeal abnormalities of the fetus, caused by an excess or a lack of the baby's genetic DNA material.
She says this test is recommended for women over 35 years old, women who have born children with genetic defects or who have a family member, and women who have double test tests that indicate high risk.
Only a small sample of mother's blood (10ml) is needed to complete the Nifty test, and it can be made from the 10th week of pregnancy. The results are obtained within six to eight days. The Nifty test has a much higher degree of accuracy than traditional tests (dual, triple), and unlike invasive procedures like amniocentes, there is no risk for mother and child.
Before conducting non-invasive pre-invasive tests, it is necessary to consult your gynecologist for any kind of risk, diagnosis, treatment and/or other potential health problems.
Which diseases or disorders does Nifty detect?
NIFTYTM carries out the script for the three most common diseases resulting from chromosome trisomys: Down syndrome, Edwards syndrome, and Patau syndrome. Independent exchange studies, including study on the use of the test NIFY in the clinical practice in which over 147,000 women have participated showed that the degree of accuracy in discovering these diseases is higher than 99%.
Test Nifty Plus it allows for testing other trisomys, gender aniplodies and chromosomes, as well as structural changes in chromosomes. Remember, it is important to consult your gynecologist before conducting a genetic test so that you can be sure to understand fully the diseases for which the test is performed.
