In May 2013 a woman was taken out of the ruins of a factory in Bangladesh, where she had remained for 17 days. The workers heard him scream: “Please extract me”, and use video and audio tracking devices to find its exact position. After Haiti's earthquake in January 2010, a man survived for 12 days under the ruins of a store. At least 200,000 people died in that disaster.

Another outstanding survival case is that of a 40-year-old woman who survived the 2005 earthquake in Pakistan. She was taken out of her home kitchen, almost in ruins, 40 days after the earthquake. The woman survived in a space so small that she could not move.
An IRC team managed to save once three boys buried practically for five days under the ruins of their school for five days after the 2005 earthquake in Pakistan. They were lying on their backs next to each other; the ceiling had fallen on them and touched their nose, but it had not hurt them.
