EP votes new commission without Great Britain next week

The European Parliament will vote for Ursula's top team, von der Leyeen, next Wednesday, paving the way for the new Commission to start operating on December 1st, Parliament President David Susssol said today. He said the vote at a plenary session in Strasbourg will come after the Council has [...]
He said the vote at a plenary session in Strasbourg will come after the Council supports a fellow commissioner with 27 members, as Great Britain has refused to make a nomination ahead of parliamentary elections on 12 December.
“Today, we have decided that we will have a college vote,” said Sasssol after a meeting of the Assembly Presidents' Conference (directors of Political Groups). “If the vote is positive, on December 1st the European Commission will be able to start operating. ”
Sassol said the Council would issue a statement “for the formation of 27 commissionaries”, regardless of what happens Friday, when Great Britain has been asked to respond to a initiated violation procedure on London's refusal to appoint a commission candidate, Kosovo Press broadcast.
If there are no new facts, there will be a statement by the Council for the formation of 27 commissionors... This is enough for us in view of the dialogue and answers the authorities gave us from the British,” said Susssol.
The confirmation process, which began in September, was more severe than he would hope for, Von der Leeyen, with Eurodeputs rejecting candidates from France, Romania and Hungary. Their replacements have now been granted all parliamentary approvals.
But Sassol defended the eurodeput decisions, saying the assembly took the confirmation process “very seriously” and is the “really at the centre of the European decision-making process”.
Sassoli and the leaders of the group today also met with the three appointed executive vice heads of the Commission, Margrethe Vestager, Frans Timmmermans and Valdis Dombrovskis.
