Fourteen candidates are participating in the race. Among them is Prime Minister-in-Chiefed by Late Power Social Democrat Party Chairman Viorica Dancila.
According to the poll results, the current president will win about 40 per cent of the vote, nearly twice as many as the biggest rivals, but that victory would not be enough to be selected in the position of first state in the first round.
If neither candidate wins more than 50 per cent of the vote, the two candidates with the most votes will face a run-off on November 24th.
Iohannis has said he wants to modernise Romania's state institutions to prevent corruption scandals, which the country has faced for years.
He has also pledged to strengthen the rule of law and to support anti-corruption measures, especially within the justice system, writes “Free Europe”, Report Express broadcast.
