The case of Drenas will be in the hands of Judge Elife Uka.

And according to the Pristina Basic Court, the same should call the first court hearing by November 30th.

The Foundation Court has appointed Judge Elife Uka in case of sexual abuse of minors by Drenas.

It has been more than nine months since the sex abuse scandal of a young girl from Drenas became public.

And on October 30th of this year the Constitutional Prosecutorship in Pristina filed charges against 6 people.

All of these were accused of sexual abuse by misusing position, authority, or profession.

And the same day, this indictment has been handed over to the Constitutional Court in Pristina.

In a response to Television, Mirlinda Gashi from the Court's Information Office has confirmed that the court judge has already been appointed.

We inform you that the incident in question has come to court and is recorded on October 30, 2019. This subject was divided to Judge Elife Uka. The case will be processed in order to arrive at court”, the Foundation Court announced.

Based on the Penal Procedure Code provisions until November 30th, the court of the case should call the hearing for the first trial review.

Gzim Shala, from the Kosovo Institute for Justice, says this is how the legal deadline is regulated, even though such a practice of respecting deadlines is rarely respected by judges.

According to him, judges in the country, at 98% of cases do not respect legal deadlines for the trial process. But he says that in the case in question, because of public pressure, the Court is expected to implement these deadlines.

Otherwise, in the indictment filed by the Founding Prosecutor 3, a lawyer, a sergeant and a Social Work Centre official in Drenas are accused of sexual abuse of a minor.
