The act mandates an annual review, to see if Hong Kong had enough autonomy to justify special status with the US, the BBC writes.
Mr. Trump is currently looking for an agreement with China to end the trade war between the two countries.
“The US is ignoring facts and distorting the truth,” said in the Chinese foreign minister's statement.
This open country has supported violent criminals who are irresponsibly breaking objects, setting fire, insulting innocent civilians, violating order and law, and endangering social order. ”
