According to daily air quality measurements, it turns out that in the winter season, the city of Pristina is sinking into smog, featuring combined air pollution with gas, officials from the National Public Health Institute have said. Because of the high degree of pollution, the institute has recommended to competent institutions that an action plan to improve air quality be compiled urgently.
We are obliged to inform the population of the causes of air pollution that could threaten the health of citizens, said Era Piraeus, spokeswoman for the National Public Health Institute. She added that PM2.5 values during the winter are expected to be several times above normal values. The National Institute proposes these strategic measures, which “urgently compile an action plan for improving air quality, especially in the capital. The application and transmission of air legislation in line with EU directives and WHO standards. Implementation of national programmes and joint projects for the airport field”, Piraeus said, public television reports.
National Institute experts warn and warn that unless urgent measures are taken, there will be negative effects on population health.
And Environment Ministry spokesman Leotrim Sahiti told public television that they have drafted the draft law on protecting air from pollution, but that has not been approved due to the dissolution of the assembly.
How the minister has drafted the air protection bill, and we expect that after the establishment of the next legislature of the convent, this law will be adopted and then continue to extract administrative guidelines that complete the legal framework on air protection from pollution.
The National Public Health Institute recommends citizens that when air has high levels of pollution to reduce road access and in polluted air areas, especially in the morning and evening, this alone applies to people with chronic cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, children and pregnancy. Stay at home, and don't open windows for the ventilation of rooms until the high values last.
