Currently 36 young people from Kosovo are being professionally trained in different companies in Germany. They are part of the Professional Training Project, which is a joint project of German GIZ, the Ministry of Labour and Social Management and the Union of Albanian-German Business.
This project, which began in 2017, enables young people to qualify for Union member companies in Germany, with employment opportunities there or return to Kosovo with a degree of qualifications.
Canada Avdiu, responsible for the Professional Training Project, tells of KosovaPress, that since 2017, when this project has even begun to be implemented, the number of young people being educated in Germany is 36, and includes different profiles like gastronom, metal, wood and nursing.
Avdiu: 36 young people from Kosovo qualify in German companies
The project is going very well, we don't have any difficulties because we have support from the German Embassy, from GIZ, Dimak and other institutions. Also from the Ministry in Kosovo, of course we didn't have Union of Business members who attend or very much support this project, we wouldn't have the opportunity. So far from 2017, we have about 36 new people capable of member companies, the project includes all profiles, starting with gastronomics, metal processing, wood processing, nurses and others”, she says.
Kriter to apply to be part of this project is foreclosure, and the person must be registered as job seekers at the Ministry of Labour and Social Management.
Avd: Aim to Support Kosovo in Professional Training
The “Synim is for young people first to have an opportunity of schooling that we do not have present in Kosovo at the moment, and for the future we are intent on supporting Kosovo, or institutions in Kosovo to enable similar skills, because Kosovo has shortcomings for professional workers, we have many graduates but the workforce is missing, so it takes little change in the direction of schooling we have in Kosovo”, she says.
Young people then return to Kosovo with a valid job degree, or become part of a company in Germany.
The project was initiated in 2017 at the Pristina Labour Fair by GIZ, the Labour Ministry and the Union of Business.
