The quake was situated 50 miles [50 km] east of Rhodes, with a depth of 15 miles [ 4.5 km].
Another severe earthquake was also felt in southern Italy at 4:32 p.m. The quake was 4.6 Richter, with a depth of 11 km and 48 miles [348 km] from Rome.
