The spinach contains an antioxidant known as alfa-lypoic acid, which has been shown to lower glucose levels, increase insulin sensitivity, and prevent oxidizing changes caused by stress in diabetes patients.
Studies on alpha-lypoic acid have also shown a decrease in peripheral neuropathy and autonomous neuropathy in diabetes.
Most studies, however, have used intravenous alpha-lypic acid and is not sure whether the oral completion would benefit from the same.
