Until recently, it has been considered impossible to recover, but American scientists have launched the results of a study that rejects that thought, which will surely pave new ways to treat osteoarthritis.
Although the opposite has been considered so far, the human body is still able to regenerate, according to research by Duke University scientists.
These are obviously limited but sufficient capacity to provide a starting point for finding new ways to treat osteoarthritis.
The thought so far was based on the lack of blood in knots, which made it impossible to recover.
However, according to new data, a key role in the process of regeneration is not blood, but a molecular process similar to that used by some lizards to restore lost limbs.
This process is more effective at knots, less on knees and at least on hips, scientists say.
