With the motto “Justice restores the dignity of victims”, today is marked the 10th anniversary of the week's rights to victims of crime.
Chief State Prosecutor Alexander Lumezi vowed that they have strengthened morals for law enforcement. Do not reveal or punish crimes, he said, risks repeating crime.
I want to assure the citizens of the country that crime victims will be treated with respect and dignity. Of all you prosecutors and prosecutors, I expect you to serve with dignity the victims whenever they appear to be”, he said.
Lumez said it must be worked on capacity building so that these victims do not suffer fatally, as has happened.
And Supreme Court President Enver Peci said progress has been noted year-on-year in this direction. According to him, Kosovo does not lack legislation, but as a country suffers in its implementation.
“The judicial practice has proved that it is not unique in the pronunciation of sentences. Today in the week's footnote on the rights of the victims of crime we have the law before ourselves and we are obliged to guarantee justice for them. We can't be influenced by anyone. Clearly, it is unforgivable for us to forgive the perpetrators. As a state, we need to increase our capacity to prevent these cases because punishment is not enough. We have to accept that we are liquefied in implementing the” legislation, Peci said.
