Two people, under the charge of gambling, have been beaten in public in Indonesia's capital, Aceh, a punishment stemming from Sheriat's laws.
The law of Sheriat in this area, by this side, punishes those who consume alcohol, homosexuals, and those who engage in premarital sex.
In photos carried out along the act of punishment provided by the British daily Daily Mail, people in public can be seen wearing white, being hit with a thin bamboo rod.
Those caught in the picture can be seen on camera by filming the moment of the sentence.
Under Sheriat's law, people are often beaten with staff for a variety of criminal acts, including gambling, homosexual relations, sales, alcohol consumption and extra-marital sex.
The Islamic penal code, which stems from the interpretations of the Koran, the book of Guidance of Islam, is widely used in the region of Aceh as the main legal code. Aceh is considered the only country in Indonesia that has conservative legislation in place.
