There are 76m euros that will go to the shift of the Kosova B thermal power plant electrofils.
With the completion of the electrofiling project, KEK from 2021 will operate on standards of the European Union.
This project will be financed by IPA funds, while the EU Office is in the closing phase of the project in terms of administrative part.
Termocentral Power Director Kosova B, Louis Imer, has said this project is very important for both residents and the corporation itself.
After our expectations, this project will begin in six months if everything goes okay. The completion of the project is in two phases, the first is in the B1 unit, which ends around December 15th of 2020, and the second phase is that of the B2 unit, which will be completed in 2021. This project is very important for the country above all for the population living here, but also for KEK itself. This thermal power plant, following implementation of this project, will operate according to EU standards”, Imer said.
The inhabitants of the village of Hades who live nearby KEK, they say that investments made by KEK have significantly influenced the improved pollution, which at the same time have affected a better life.
“compared to the situation before the war or immediately after the war, there are better changes. With KEK investments in the filters. There are better improvements. As residents, we ask KEK to continue with work and improve the environmental situation according to EU standards. We ask the Government to make a solution because this part has remained as ghetto and there are no conditions for living. We expect the entire village's shift. There aren't many residents left, the remaining children are sent to school in private cars, so half the village has moved to Obilic”, said Valton Prenqi of the village of Hades.
KEK officials say that to improve the difficult situation inherited after the war, a number of projects for environmental improvements have been implemented.
“As a company of particular importance to the country, the Kosovo Energy Corporation, at the constant objective, also has the environmental component. In this direction KEK has completed an investment cycle on several projects, but it will only mention three of them, such as the shift of the Kosova A Temocentral Power electrofilts, the ash plumbing transport, which is no longer done through the traca, but through mixed tubes, a litre of water-a- hi and the coverage of a 250-acre ash hill, inherited from pre-war. Otherwise, as for the smoke mentioned in the last few days, this happens in all the thermal power plants and in our thermal power plant is a technical process, which is inevitable in cases where the bloc is re-started, otherwise it happens 3-4 hours until the burning of coal”, said Skender Bucolli, Director of the ECK Media Office.
The total value of KEK's investments in environmental improvement over the past 10 years has reached 60m euros.
