For the first time, researchers have proved that certain toxic substances in the air can harm the chemical processes of cells that stimulate hair growth. According to scientists, these substances can lead to massive hair loss.
Experts recommend that little of this study reduce the time spent outdoors in areas where there is severe air pollution in order to avoid falling hair.
Research has been done by referring to air polluted by cars, industries, and other heating, which produces smoke. The polluted air is now known to also cause many heart, lung, and asthma disease.
The study was conducted by a group of scientists from the “The Science Research Centre” in South Korea. The experiment was done in laboratory conditions, using human cells. These cells have been exposed to substances found in contaminated air, the protein level, which stimulate hair growth, is markedly reduced.
However, scientists say that new experiments should be done because the study was conducted in laboratory conditions. This study was presented at the European Congress of Dermatology and Venerology in Madrid, and has not yet been published in any scientific journals.
