It has become a year and a half since the country's institutions officially opened the five-year period for application for recognition of the status of survivors of sexual violence during the war in Kosovo. So far at the Centre for the rehabilitation of Torture Survivors (QMKRT), they say that only at this centre so far have more than 260 survivors of sexual violence applied, of them 18 men, said the Online Economy, Sebahate Pacoli-Krasnici, manager at this centre.
“So far over 260 survivors of their sex violence are 18 men to bear in mind that even this information is sometimes missing appears to be often available information that women and girls have behind this serious brainistic experience. So apart from our organization are this figure”, she indicated.
From this number of survivors that have applied for recognition of status, Pacolli-Krasniqi stressed that only 128 of them have been recognised.
So far your 128 have recognised status, of these that have applied from our Kosovo level numbers are larger, I can't speak with competence that I don't know the correct data, but there are over 1,000 that have applied to be recognised to status”, she said.
According to her, the process of applying recognition of the status of connoisseurs is generally going well and that survivors are informed of ways of application that are in three forms.
However, there is a problem that lies in long expectations over a year, until the status recognition.
The expectations are too long, and that's probably their main complaint because they haven't even waited for it, but it's a new process, but also a process in general, but the commission is actually doing a big job. However, the demands are many survivors, and it is difficult to admit that 18 years of waiting for you to have the opportunity to apply, you need at least one more year in ambush until you are given the final response”, she said.
Otherwise, it has been 20 years since the end of the Kosovo war, but that according to the KRCT, the perpetrators have not yet been convicted.
This process has generally gone slowly, and we also remember that it is a taboo issue, not just in our mentality, but it's generally talked about these topics after the war. Everything's going hard, now with a piece of d.m. that's changed is more positive, the stigma has changed, people are less prejudiced”, Pacolli-Krasniki said.
She said they're not happy with access to justice.
“Unfortunately with all these crimes, all these cases so far no single case for crimes of this nature has been condemned, even our ongoing challenge”.
After Vasfije Krasniqi-Goodmna, days ago also Shyhrete Tahire-Seyleman, became the second guaja to publicly condemn its violators.
