In most cases, protesters were killed by firearms, hospital sources said, adding that there were six police officers killed, according to AFP.
Sources close to authorities said one person was killed today and 17 were injured in a protest in Baghdad, where security forces fired against anti-government protesters.
Protests in Baghdad were organised today after authorities removed the police clock, which was in force for two days in the Iraqi capital.
The demonstrations are held in Baghdad and other cities, mainly south.
Most protesters are young people seeking jobs, fighting corruption and a functioning public service.
