Symbolic fine for the company where 17-year-old worker died

This year's Alija family from Prizren's Lubizhda ended up as worse. June 30 of 2018 was the worst day for this family, since the boy they started in the morning for work was not expected to return as well as 10 days.

“As a punishment measure, he has initially stopped his work until the inspector who needs to offer evidence is convinced. The workplace is not a risk, it's gone into effect because it's also a risk assessment and it's one of the most dedicated companies in this direction, that they know now what's going on and is aware of”, Millaku said further.

On the other hand, Millaku has stressed that there may be other punishment measures against the company but other organs.

These are not the only punishment measures that happen to employers. Because someone can take that for a loss of life. Two more procedures are developed besides what we develop. It's a procedure for damage, civil procedure and criminal procedures. It's up to the prosecutor to name it a criminal offense or not. If a criminal offense is named, then it must render criminal accounts”, he added.

While the Labour Inspectorate has taken steps, the case has been passed to Prizren's Founding Prosecutor. This justice organ is still continuing the investigation.

The prosecutor at the Constitutional Prosecutor in Prizren, Petrit Kryeziu, has told of construction.info that the investigation in this case is being conducted for extermination, damage or removal of protective equipment and risking workplace safety.

Based on your request and your questions, we inform you that the Constitutional Prosecutor in Prizren - General Department has made a decision to initiate investigations into defendants with initials A.B., due to reasonable suspicion that he has committed criminal work unjustly, damage or removal of protective equipment and endangerment at the workplace of Article 367 paragraph 2 and paragraph 3 concerning paragraph 7 of the Republic of Kosovo's Criminal Code. The Labour Law allows the employment of people over the age of 15, stressing in Article 7 that people between the ages of 15 and 18 can be employed only for light jobs that do not pose risks to their health or development.

In addition to Seldin, 22 other workers were found this year's death at the workplace, causing the year 2018 to be the most likely death in the workplace.
