Serbia is misusing the border issue to convince some countries in attracting recognitions

Although on the official page of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MPJ), Kosovo numbers 116 recognitions, news has come that thirteen countries have drawn recognition of independence. Early days it was also warned of a withdrawal of recognition from the Republic of Palau, even though this country still figures on the list of recognitions. [...]
Early days it was also warned of a withdrawal of recognition from the Republic of Palau, even though this country still figures on the list of recognitions.
Foreign Affairs Commission Chairman Vjosa Osmani says all this is coming as a result of the MPJ's poor work.
That far has added that Serbia is misusing opening the topic of borders, convincing some states to attract recognitions.
“We as a commission have generally estimated that the MPJ's work has not been satisfactory and above all that has been behind a total redundancy of Kosovo institutions, so between the MPJ, government dictatorships and the presidency in the foreign policy field”, Osamni told Online Economy.
This imbalance, of course, has its consequences, but the fundamental problem is that in the international context, the country's president, with the help of some in power, has opened the subject of limit”.
The “Moment that has opened the topic of borders opens up the topic of Kosovo's citizenship, therefore, Serbia is misusing this to convince some states to say they have changed their mind as far as recognition is concerned, she said.
Osmani has said MPJ should work with friendly states for a strategy through which recognition withdrawals will be prevented.
She has then added that it should be seen where the lobbies have gone to know whether they have been exploited for state or individual interests.
Looking at the financing, Serbia's huge investment to convince some predominantly small states to comply with the content of the letters in which they are said to be freezing or suspending the issue of recognitions. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs needs to make a strategy that includes all institutions not only MPJs in order to work in all directions, work in all geographic regions and prevent such situations”.
Of course Kosovo cannot do this alone because it has never been possible, so we must have our strategic partners in particular the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, and other EU states that have helped us achieve recognitions so far so that we can make sure that we can block the change of mind with them in some” state.
The “for this should be seen where all those lobbies went, all those millions, if the foreign minister didn't use them, then who used them because they were lobbies for Kosovo interests and not for individual interests”, she said.
Naim Rashit of the Group for the Balkans has said there will be no withdrawal of substantial recognitions, but that foreign policy should not be left behind.
Serbia will not stop until a specified moment for a specific agreement or any new international context”.
Whatever happens to recognitions, I don't think there will be any withdrawals of substantial recognitions, any state in -tuk, it's not important, the main states know it, the main recognitions for what we have will remain as such, and Kosovo shouldn't worry about those aspects”.
According to Rashit, foreign policy has no budgetary priority and as such has remained hostage to various agendas, EO reports.
“However, institutions must carefully analyse and take concrete action, invest in foreign policy, not only for this, but for expanding relations and co-operation with all states not only those that have known us but also states that have not recognised us, with which we can build relations”.
“In this regard, the government has been stuck for years and must have a kind of wake-up to mobilise to finance, prioritize foreign policy. Foreign policy has no prioritization either of the budget or politics is a priority because of various problems, different agendas”.
The entire foreign policy must be re-enlisted. It is not only of the Foreign Ministry, it should have a political position potentially unifying how, how we should deal with foreign policy as a state and regardless of who is in power”, Rashi said.
Deputy Prime Minister Enver Hoxhaj, meanwhile, at a conference several days ago, has said EU High Representative Frederica Moghrini must exert pressure on Belgrade in order to stop the campaign against Serbia for attracting recognitions.
“Our interests as state and American are the same as the EU, and among partners there may be tensions, we are on a good track that Serbia has been marketed in a way to halt this diplomatic aggression and Moghrini and others will exercise influence over Belgrade by stopping this campaign for attracting recognition”, he said.
