US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo praised this Tuesday the wave of “division in global politics, quoting Donald Trump and “Brexit”, but pointing also the elective finger in France and Malaysia.
In his address to the world business elite, in the Swiss resort of Davos, Pompeo reiterated Trump's criticism of international institutions, but also the American president's calls for “reinforced borders to protect national sovereignty.
New winds are blowing across the globe”, Pompeo said through a video for those present at the World Economic Forum, because his trip was canceled in the wake of the ongoing federal government blockade in the United States. “I would call this division a positive development”, he said further.
In recent years, according to Pompeos, voters have shaken politicians and political alliances, which they say are no longer representing their interests.
He cited Trump's choice in 2016, as well as Britain's referendum to secede from the European Union, events that really shook the elites, as well as the latest election triumphs from the “Movement 5 stars” in Italy, or the president of the far rightist president in Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, who was addressed earlier in the Davos Forum, this Tuesday.
But what made the most surprising was Pompeo's showing off on France's 2017 elections, where Emmanuel Macron took the keys to Elyse, a centre politician who came out of his party's system, but who recently is facing difficulties from the protests of so-called “jekret”, saying that he is not so much in touch with the economic concerns of the people, TCh follows.
Responding to a question from Davos, Pompeii acknowledged that Trump's criticism of international institutions has troubled the feathers, however, he denied that the United States is more isolated under his direction.
