The United States of America (SHBA) continues not to change its attitude about the imposed tax on Serbian products. In a response given to “Voice” by the American Embassy in Pristina, they have said the US has consistently appealed to Kosovo leadership to remove the fee imposed two months ago.
Asked whether the US has given the ultimatum to Kosovo institutions for tax removal, the American Embassy in Pristina has told the paper that the US position remains the same, for suspension of the 100 per cent tax.
Our position regarding tariffs has not changed. The United States has repeatedly appealed to the Kosovo leadership to suspend tariffs in goods from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. As we have said before, we don't see how Kosovo benefits from these” measures, points to the Embassy's response.
Furthermore, it is said the US urges Kosovo to focus on its essential interests, which concern the European future and normalisation of reports with Serbia.
“We strongly promote renewed focus on Kosovo's core interests, its European future and normalised relationship with Serbia. We hope to see the secure and bold leader on both sides of the table, which is needed to move forward and get out of the current” blockade, is highlighted further in response.
