At the end of March of this year, the Kosovo government is expected to become by law. As a result of this law, the reduction of the number of ministries in the Government of Kosovo is expected to take place.
So has the chairman of the Commission for Building the Government Bill, Besnik Tahiri.
After meeting this commission's processing group, Tahiri announced that they have made the presentation of the findings of various non-governmental organisations studies, discussions on their findings, and future steps for the process of drafting the draft law on Government.
Tahiri stressed that special attention at this meeting has received two topics -- that of limiting the number of ministries, as well as the comparison aspect of the countries of the region.
We have law on everything, but we have no law on Government, in that sense we discussed two key issues: In detail, we discussed the aspect of limiting the number of ministries... addressed the comparison aspect of the countries of the region, introduced by the Institute for Democracy and Development... the government of Kosovo has taken seriously the drafting and adoption of this law by the end of March. We are also addressing the legal and constitutional aspect of the number of ministries in this law because this law should sanction the number of ministries. We are also addressing the aspect of functionality related to the number of employees associated with the budget and efficiency of the Government”, Tahiri said.
He announced that the Government will establish this law with my preliminary consultation with the Civil Society, make a comparison analysis and present this draft before the Government cabinet by the end of March.
So far, the composition of Kosovo governments has been a large number of ministries and deputy ministers, being among the largest in Europe.
The current government, headed by Haradinaj, has 21 ministries and over 70 deputy ministers.
