European Union spokeswoman Maja Kocijancic has responded immediately to the statement by Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vucic.
He had said the international community and Europe should say whether the tax on Serbian products from Kosovo will soon be lifted, and whether the dialogue will continue so as to understand whether elections will be organised in Serbia or not.
In the question of how the EU is acting to have Pristina's tax on Serbian products lifted and continued dialogue, Kocijancic has told the news agency “beta” that it has witnessed the visit of European commissionor Johannes Hahn days ago in Pristina.
The European Union expects Serbia and Kosovo to soon meet their obligations in the dialogue, also taking into account the direct link for normalising reports and attitudes by fulfilling their aspirations in relation to the EU”, she said.
We are focused on the fact that continued work in dialogue aimed at reaching a legally binding agreement for general normalisation of relations has created a sustainable solution to open issues”, Kocijancic added, broadcasts news.net.
She added that: “This means that a sustainable solution must be reached with the reconciliation of international and acceptable law for all EU members in the region”. And in a broader context, we stress that Pristina-Belgrade dialogue requires an atmosphere that contributes to good neighbourly relations, which means that the agreements reached are respected, while all movements and statements incompatible with the region's overall and strategic interests must be removed”, she stressed.
The EU welcomes the appointment of members of the Kosovo negotiating delegation for talks with Serbia, Kocijancic has concluded.
Meanwhile, during the recent meeting in Brussels, EU High Representative Federica Moghrini has submitted three clear requirements to the Kosovo side to continue dialogue with Serbia, which according to her suggests that no more issues will be open between Kosovo and Serbia, but will end all secular disputes with the signing of a legally binding agreement between the two states.
