The ban and interviewing of Serb politicians at the Merdare border crossing on Serbian organs is aimed at intimidating the political opponents of the Serbian List, and all of this does not go in favour of the Serb community, nor does Serbia's own state, assessing representatives of Kosovo Serbs and connoisseur of political developments.
Earlier, in some cases, at the Kosovo-Serbia border crossings, Serbian authorities have interviewed Serb members of the Kosovo Security Force for hours, but it has already become evident that they are doing the same with Serbian politicians, who do not belong to the Serbian List.
Since December last year, Kosovo's Independent Liberal Party deputy, Boban Stankovic, Deputy Culture Minister in the Government of Kosovo and Nebojsa Jakovljevic, adviser to the Ministry of Labour and Social Goods in the Government of Kosovo have been detained and interviewed. Interviews have lasted for hours.
The Independent Liberal Party, which these days marks the 13th anniversary of political activity in Kosovo, until the formation of the Serbian List, has been one of the main Serbian parties. Currently, in the Kosovo Assembly, it is represented by one deputy, while there are two deputy ministers in Government.
In a conversation with Radio Free Europe, Independent Liberal Party Chairman Slobodan Petrovic says he works in accordance with the laws, which his work is known for the opinion and that he has nothing to hide. Consequently, as he says, he is willing to respond to any invitation from Serbia's official institutions. However, the several-hour interview of members of this party at the Merdare border crossing on the part of the Agency for Security and Information (BIA), according to him, clearly speaks of political pressure on all who think differently.
