It has reacted for the first time to President Ilir Meta, in connection with the delegation of foreign minister's competencies to the hands of Gail Cakati, the decision Prime Minister Rama made public this Wednesday, a day after he was sworn in as foreign minister to the State Head's office.
Asked by journalists about this issue that brought a strong clash between the presidency and the prime minister, Meta has indicated that he personally cannot comment or intervene on acts of internal organisation of executive power.
But that said, Meta has also stated that he will respect the Constitution and that it is clear which institution will delegate his constitutional authority to link international agreements on behalf of Albania.
Question: Mr. President, what is your comment regarding Prime Minister Rama's decision to delegate his powers as foreign minister to the deputy minister you did not decree, Mr. Cakaj?
President Meta: The president does not intervene and comment on acts of internal organisation of executive or ministry.
I as president of the Republic respect the Constitution and have very clearly my competencies about which institution can delegate constitutional authority to link international agreements on behalf of the Republic of Albania.
