Goji berry is the name of the fruit the farmer from Decani's Strellci, Xhemaj Bajrami, has begun to cultivate for four years now, but it is difficult for him to find the market for his sale. And while local institutions say they will help with market promotion and insurance, Bajrami as the only way so far to sell this product has black market.
Bajrami has shown that seeds for cultivating this fruit have been taken to China, where it originated. He has about 30 gold planted and has over 400 seedlings with goji berry. Fermer Bajrami says the reason he has decided to cultivate this fruit is because of the very good properties he possesses.
According to him, this fruit, which in Kosovo is not very well known, is described in the world as a plant affecting the strengthening of immunity. He also says that this plant is rich in many nutrients, such as vitamins and minerals that human organization sorely needs.
This fruit is called Goji berry, originating from Tibet, China. I've cultivated this. I've ordered the seeds there. I've planted the seeds myself. I have about 30 gold planted and I can say that there are about 400 seedlings, the length of planting is three to three, and the fidanus, three meters, that's the most appropriate planting. This grows like a bush, but you can fuck it up even in clusters like a grape, but you always want a pole and a left a little while to pick yourself up. As he grew up, he grew up with a lot of washing, but it doesn't get too thick of”, he said.
Bajrami says this fruit is rich in vitamins A and C, iron, black, fiber, anti-oxidant, amino acviral, beta-caroten, anti-inflamant, anti-bacterial.
Moreover, he says that this fruit has other benefits for human health, such as helping to lose excess weight, reducing blood sugar, regulates blood pressure, lowers heart pressure, fights cancer, helps to reduce stress, regenerates skin cells, helps repair sleep, increases the testosterone hormone in males.
There are many healing properties for blood pressure, for sugar, for overweight, very strong antioxidants, to lift immunity, there are many properties. However, here it is relatively bad that there is no good market for it and that people do not know it because it is like an accomplished youth. But he who knows him doesn't hesitate immediately, he says.
To date, this farmer who is cultivating a new fruit has not received any assistance from either the Decani Community or the Ministry of Agriculture, he even says that these two institutions do not foresee any subsidies to this type of agricultural culture.
Citizens may find this fruit once in a black market, where the farmer is forced to put it to sell, but Bajrami says there is also a number of citizens who have knowledge of himself and who go and take it to his house.
On the hard market, on the black market, I'm selling it for kilograms, the pound goes up to 6 euros, 7 euros when it's wet, and dry is up to 30 euros. Since they have to calculate how many pounds of so - called pounds they make for a pound of tar, 6 to 7 kilograms go for a kilo”, he indicated.
For the head of the Decani municipality, Bashkim Ramosaj, marketing for this fruit is difficult, as according to him, it is a product that is not well known.
However, the one for Kosovo has said it will support this farmer even in promotion, but also by providing the market for sale.
It's a little hard to secure the market in Decan, because it's one of the most unknown products. When people see it in natural condition, they think it's a species of pepper, they think it's more hot, more attentionful. But, which is one of the plants that had both quality and medicine, there is an experimental field that I believe will grow up and as a municipality, and I as its mayor are in his favor that even promoted as a culture that is done in Decan, within the possibilities of even promoting it to make the market”, he said.
Until farmer Xhemajl Bajrami is secured the market to sell this rare fruit in Kosovo, he says he will continue to participate in various fairs to promote it.
KosovoPress has also tried to receive an answer from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, whether there will be subsidies for the growers of this plant, but no response.
