Germany opens window of hope for visa liberalisation this year

A new window of visa liberalisation for Kosovo has been opened after Germany's European Affairs State Minister Michael Roth has indicated that Germany considers that Kosovo has met all conditions for visa liberalisation, that it supports liberalisation and will commit to this powerful issue in Brussels, writes...
While in principle Germany has so far supported the visa liberalisation process, it has refrained from clearly proposing whether or not the conditions have been met. While countries like France and the Netherlands have voiced themselves against visa liberalisation, Germany has not so far expressed its stance. But representatives of this state in discussions in Brussels in the past had called the European Commission's assessment that Kosovo has fulfilled all conditions as a hasty “action”.
In circumstances where France and the Netherlands were expressed against, where Spain sees this topic as <x0 problem>” and when Germany had no stance, the likelihood that in the EU Council to move things in favour of Kosovo was almost non-existence.
