Ahmeti: The president has until Friday to hand over dialogue documentation

Kosovo's state delegation for dialogue with Serbia has sent the president's request yesterday for obtaining documentation on the issue. One of the team's two leaders, Shpend Ahmeti, has announced this, and according to him, President Hashim Thaci has until Friday to hand over the required material. He says the president must understand that this is not a competition with each other.

On the other hand, unlike the other head of the state team, Fatmir Limaj, Ahmeti is not optimistic about reaching the final agreement with Serbia. It says that border correction looks like speculation.

And if the agreement happens, according to him, it should be victory for both sides, where Kosovo wins the outcome of the formalisation and independence, becoming a member of the Security Council. While according to him, Serbia eventually gives up a huge burden, with the race it looks for Serb minority in Kosovo.

In an interview for KosovoPress, chairman of The PSD from Brussels says that at the meeting they had with EU High Representative Federica Moghrini, it has been announced that it is not the EU that decides who should lead the talks with Serbia. While criticism has addressed the LDK and Vetevendosje, which have consistently opposed the state team.

I believe it was clear to Mogher as well, and she added it, according to her, appears to be possible from the readiness of both sides, from EU access, from US access to Moscow and other security states. It means it's a certain possibility. If this is achieved, I still believe that the odds are more likely not to be reached because we are away from”, he said.

Even more pessimistic is the possibility of this happening in March of this year.

“would have to have an extraordinary intensity for then the agreement in March. So we're talking decades of conflict, whether armed or political, and solved within a month, I don't think it's real, with these sporadical meetings. So, in all likelihood what I understand from the negotiators is that now you have to increase intensity in the next two months. I don't know where you heard about that in March, I've never heard a month. But the first half of this year is mentioned, the first 6 months”, he says.

According to him, it is not reasonable for the EU to determine who should lead the dialogue with Serbia.

Commenting on the lack of representatives of two other opposition parties in the negotiating team, Ahmeti addresses criticism of LDK and Vetevendosje.

“It is irresponsible political action by LDK and VV not to be part of the table. We're not talking about my business or any member of the delegation, we're talking about the Republic of Kosovo. If we think we have no responsibility, I don't know why we're in politics. So I don't want to deal with the subject because that's the most important topic. Because I like this guy. I like him, or at the same time I express readiness to meet Vuchy, and we meet, I don't understand”, Ahmeti said.

Despite the fact that for the EU it is clear that Serbia should also show a willingness to stop its campaign to withdraw recognitions, Ahmeti repeats the order they received from Federica Moghrini for the removal of the tax on Serbian goods.

According to him, European Commission representatives were told that Kosovo could set 100 conditions not to sit on the table, as Serbia has not implemented any of the technical agreements that have been signed in the last 5-6 years.
