212 cases of domestic violence were reported in Gjilan in just 2018

The Constitutional Prosecutor in Gjilan during 2018, thanks to co-operation and co-ordination with Kosovo Police, the Office for the Protection of Victims and the Foundation Court in Gjilan, has handled 212 cases of domestic violence.

After the investigation, 186 charges have been filed, in 17 cases proposals have been made for the pronunciation of mandatory treatment measures, 4 proposals for the pronunciation of educational measures, two criminal charges have been dropped, and in three cases the investigation has ceased.

For all criminal acts described as domestic violence, 90% of people have been women who have experienced psychic and physical violence - in many cases, even by perpetrators have been violated by protective orders, with which safeguards against victims are envisioned.

In the region of Gjilan, this year, domestic violence has resulted in a major problem, as the number of these criminal acts continues to be high.

The Constitutional Prosecutor in Gjilan reports that he will continue to deal with serious domestic violence, taking all necessary action to prevent this widespread phenomenon. /Periscopi
