The Law on executing criminal sanctions clearly states that criminal sanctions are executed in the manner that ensures human treatment and respect for each individual's dignity. Adding that the person does not undergo torture or treatment or inhuman or degrading punishment.
“Criminal sanctions are executed fairly impartially. No one can be discriminated against based on race, color, gender, language, religion, political thinking, national or social background, connection with any community, property, economic, social status, sexual orientation, birth, limited capacity, or any other personal status in the Republic of Kosovo”, says Article 5 of this law.
While Justice Minister Abelard Tahiri had promised better conditions for prisoners during this 2018.

According to him, the ministry will also be committed to reviewing the Law for Execution of Criminal Sanctions, as well as infrastructure of the facilities where prisoners remain in Kosovo.
